Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: WISE RIVER Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020004 Forest or Resource Area: BEAVERHEAD Owner: N Impact: Report: The Patsy Ann is located section 24, T. 02 N., R. 11 W. and was accessed by obtaining the Forest Service key to the locked gate up Long Tom Creek. A trail leads the last mile and a half to the adits on the west side of the hill. A steep-sided prospect was dug along the dark gray limestone/quartzite contact in the meadow downhill from the main claim (on approximately the 7800 foot elevation line). Also, a prospect pit/ shallow shaft was east of the road/trail on the way up. It was 10 to 15 feet deep and had a small dump on the downhill side. The primary adit is caved for the first 20 feet and then has a small opening where the last timber set remains. It is caved again after this timber set. It has a small dump of weakly iron-stained limestone with minor cherty, strongly iron-stained silica. A tin-sided shed stand to the north of the portal. A second working uphill, but was largely obliterated by the road. A prospect/beginning of a shaft lies at the end of the road to the south. It also had iron-stained cherty and earthy limonitic rock on the dump. The beginning of an adit lies 200 feet downhill from this working. |
