Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: BUTTE Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: Impact: Report: Highland View Surface mapping by Sahinen (1950) shows numerous prospect pits, a 55 foot shaft, and a 200 foot adit that trace a limestone-diorite contact N40E for over 900 feet. The zone probably extends 1/2 mile to the Limekiln Hill prospects. Mineralogy is a typical skarn assemblage of quartz, garnet, epidote, limonite, and gold. MBMG field crews did not visit this mine but visualized it from across the valley. It is dry. The ridgetop is marble. may be on patented ground with an inhabited cabin on the property. There is another prospect (not visited) (appears dry) on a 4 x 4 trail that goes up the hill to the Highland View location. |
