Report: Taylor Creek Mine (RA007153) This mine is a large open pit on a hillside in Precambrian Belt iron stained, banded argillites and quartzites. It was visited 09/12/01. The area was considered active and had an a valid mine permit with the Forest Service. The surrounding area was examined only quickly for any pre-existing problems. Downhill from the open pit, along Taylor Creek, three cabins and a wooden ore chute were located. One foundation that may have been a mill building was identified. A small pile of sandy material may be remnant tailings. They were between the road and the hillside; they were not in contact with the creek. They were about 4 to 5 yards from the active drainage. The waste-rock piles were dry and may represent the presence of a collapsed adit.
