Report: The Cliff or Clifft or Silver Dollar or Silver Dollar Junior (as claimed in the late 1960’s (~1968) is noted in Sahinen MBMG Bulletin 8 , Operated last in late 1930’s shaft exposed “good-looking” lead-silver ore similar to the Curlew and Pleasant View mines. There was also a 555 ft adit driven towards the shaft. According to a USFS mineral report (USFS RI 1150) the Silver Dollar Group consisted of six lode claims that were relocations of the former Clifft, Blue Bird, and Dallas (these 3 were the Cliff Mine Group) and additionally the Domingo, Renegade (?) and Jackson (?) lode claims. A proposal in 1968 by the Dee W. Alexander, Earl Mace, Paul G. Alexander, Jessie M. Alexander and Charles Kimmel proposed driving an adit to intercept a vein. This area is within a zone of banded gneisses and/or gneissic granite. The USBM MILS database has the commodity as lead-zinc sulfide. The USBM describes the Cliff mine as being “held” since 1889 but little production. Two adits and a shaft on the property. Northwest–trending fault associated with the mine creating small, randomly distributed breccias zones, which are the only thing significantly mineralized. Ore minerals include galena, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, bornite, and tetrahedrite. It ran 7.3 oz silver per ton, 3.4% lead, 1.0% copper, and 0.5 % zinc. Is considered sub-economic because of the localized ore.
