Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010201 Forest or Resource Area: GARNET Owner: M Impact: U Report: Katie Allen PO008029 Located in the SW¼ section 30 T.11N., R.7W., in Tiger Gulch, workings here consist of a caved adit, a caved shaft and one partially open adit. The partially open adit is located in the drainage which trends north from Tiger Gulch. The road passes by and over the waste dump for the lower adit. The drainage also skirts the adit's waste pile but no water erosion was evident except for slight erosion by runoff down the road. There is a patented claim called the Katie Allen located to the southeast of these workings; along with patented claims Ophir #1, Ophir #2, Sunrise, and Spokane. Further inspection in the trees east of the sulfide-rich waste dump by the road revealed several more workings, including three shafts (all caved, one of which I took two photos), and at least five caved adits (most trending east) and one fairly recent trench near the southwest end of the ridge. Sample POKA-1 assayed 0.022 opt Au, 0.28 opt Ag, 0.0005% Cu, 0.003% Pb and 0.004% Zn. There are more workings proceeding north up the 4-WD road (where the topo shows "PROSPECT" but they are probably not associated with the Katie Allen, but may be the Mitchell Prospect. The open adit here lies due north up an old logging road from the sulfide dump of the Katie Allen. |
