Report: Ophir Creek PO004885 This placer is correctly located but is totally on private land and was therefore not visited. There is an active placer operation being conducted in the area at the time of this study. Total production was over 100,000 ounces according to Loen, 1990. It was mined by ground sluicing, underground drifting, hydraulic giant, dragline and washing plant (Loen, 1990 and Elliot and others, 1992). Other references are Pardee and Schrader, 1933 and Lyden, 1948.
