Report: Pearl (PO004865) The Pearl workings consist of a caved shaft and a moderately sized dump. Surface disturbance is less than 1 acre. Pardee indicated the mine was developed by a 300' vertical shaft with four levels (Pardee, 1918). Host rock was reported as garnet-magnetite-epidote at the granodiorite-limestone contact (Pardee, 1918). Ore minerals included chrysocolla and malachite with minor chalcopyrite; irregular bodies of flinty quartz with iron oxide were also present (Pardee, 1918). The contact plane of this skarn deposit was irregular and dipped nearly vertically under the limestone; the "granite" encountered at 300' was reportedly barren (Pardee, 1918). All dump rock observed in 1994 was granodiorite (with sparse limonite staining). Ore values were variable but the majority of production was gold; the mine is reported to have produced about $20,000.00 worth of gold-copper ore (Pardee, 1918). Pardee reported that the mine had been idle for several years in 1916 (Pardee, 1918). It seems likely that this mine produced a modest amount of ore from mining activity prior to the turn of the century. This dry site is located on private land; no apparent environmental problems exist.
