Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: GARNET Owner: P Impact: U Report: Golden Angel (PO004705) An area 1/4 mile south-southwest of the Boston Mine site with trenches, pits, and small dumps may be the Golden Angel. Host rock is similar to the Boston (garnet-epidote-magnetite rock); limestone altered to marble is also present on the dumps. Ore mineralogy is similar to that reported for the Boston; both sites lie on the same crescent-shaped contact metamorphic body. Green hornblende (actinolite) was also reported (Pardee, 1918); none was visible on the dumps in 1994. This mine was active in the latter part of the 19th century; it was inactive by 1916 (Pardee, 1918). There is no water component on this patented claim; no environmental problems are apparent. |
