Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: GARDINER Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10070001 Forest or Resource Area: GALLATIN Owner: N Impact: Report: The general area of this mine was visited but the workings were not loated with certainty. Seager (1944) states ..."includes ten patented claims; two on the west side of Crevasse Mountain and eight on the south slope of Palmer Mountain. The principal development work in the group consisted of two adits in the Spotted Horse claim. These adits are now caved and inaccessible. The property was equipped with a 3-stamp mill in 1896, but probably hasn't been worked since about 1900. The lode explored by the adits was apparently about 3 feet wide and consisted of soft garnetiferous schist and quartz. It is said to have been low grade gold ore containing but little arsenopyrite." |
