Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: GARDINER Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10070001 Forest or Resource Area: GALLATIN Owner: M Impact: Report: This site is reported in Seager (1944) as lying immediately east of the Medona claim. Several workings were found east of the Medona and all of them were dry and caved. It was assumed that at least one of these was the Pop incline. The quote from Seager (1944) is as follows..... "The Pop incline on the Pop claim, immediately east of the Medona, was sunk in a 3-foot lode of garnetiferous quartz-cummingtonite schist in which a small percentage of vein quartz is included. Arsenopyrite and pyrite occur as disseminations in fine-grained masses through the schist. A zone of garnetiferous chlorite schist on the hanging wall of the lode grades outward into the quartz-biotite schist containing small garnets. The lode strikes almost due north and dips 20 degrees E., parallel to the enclosing schist rock." |
