Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010203 Forest or Resource Area: GARNET Owner: M Impact: Report: Daisy (MI005751) The Daisy workings are found a short distance west of, and above, the Charcoal mine/mill site. Workings consist of an open pit or quarry with a 50 foot highwall. Waste rock has been dumped downslope of the open pit. Total surface disturbance is approximately 3 acres. Host rock is a light gray to tan quartzite (Precambrian Garnet Range Formation?) cut by white to gray quartz veins. The only apparent sign of mineralization is limonite staining which is present on almost all rock exposed. A mining shack (in relatively good condition) and an open shed are found at the site. A small freshwater spring is found between these buildings. Water flows a short distance and sinks underground. There does not appear to be environmental degradation at this location. The site is located on federal land administered by the BLM. |
