Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: MISSOULA Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010204 Forest or Resource Area: LOLO Owner: N Impact: U Report: The Bonanza Lime Prospect consists of one caved adit, a 16-ft cut and a 212 ft long adit (Mayerle, 1983). The open (5.5 ft by 6.5 ft portal) adit was visited by MBMG on 05/23/01; the adit trends S.80 E. It had no discharge and the unvegetated waste-rock dump was on the talus slope below the adit. Quartz and quartz-calcite veins follow a shear zone in diabase. The veins also have pyrite, chalcopyrite, with sparse malachite and azurite blebs. One collapsed cabin was at the base of the slope. There is no obvious path to the adit from the Grant Creek trail (Trail 516T) and private land to the south inhibits visitation along the trail. The mine lies in ADBA sec. 03, T14N, R19W on the Stuart Peak 7.5-min. quadrangle. |
