Report: (From the BLM website) - The Wallace Creek Millsite consisted of one remaining building that was once an office, two small tailing impoundments, a concrete pad, and a mill foundation. The Wallace Creek Mill was used to process complex ore extracted from the Hidden Treasure and Cape Nome Mines in the Clinton-Wallace Mining District. In 1957, a 50-ton-per-day bulk flotation mill was built. During three years of intermittent operation (to Dec. 1960), the mill produced four car loads of copper concentrates, which were shipped to the smelter at Anaconda MT. The mill was abandoned and the buildings and tailings ponds were left onsite. In August 1980, the Millsite was relocated and the mill and associated buildings (assay lab and office) were rehabilitated. The mill was upgraded and expanded to a capacity of 100-ton-per-day, and the tailing ponds were increased in number and capacity. In 1981, a few truckloads of ore were run through the mill. This ore was mined from the Spotted Horse Mine in the Judith Mts. near Lewistown MT. and hauled 310 miles to the Wallace Creek Mill for processing. In 1982 there was no further mineral processing occurring, but some custom assays were being conducted in the lab. Activity at this site was curtailed by the beginning of 1983. It has been inactive since 1983.
