Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020003 Forest or Resource Area: HEADWATERS Owner: B Impact: Report: Heller Prospect (MA006860) The Heller Prospect consists of a shaft, 3 adits, and several pits (Johns, 1961). All underground workings are now caved. Host rock is Precambrian Pony Gneiss; the rocks strike N9W and dip 65NE at the portal of Adit 1. Johns indicated that this was a quartz vein deposit (Johns, 1961). The MBMG files list lead, zinc, copper, silver, and gold as commodities. The only apparent sign of mineralization observed in 1994 was limonite stained dump and wall rock. Four assay samples are listed in the literature (Johns, 1961); these assay results are not particularly instructive in terms of commodities mined. Operational history and production data is lacking for this mine. All workings appear to be on BLM land and are dry. |
