Report: Plainview (MA006824) The Plainview workings consist of an incline shaft (now caved), an an adit (open and grated), and a moderately sized dump. An abundance of junk mining material is also found at the site. Surface disturbance is approximately 1.5 acres. Host rock is Cambrian Pilgrim Limestone; mineralogy was principally argentiferous galena in a vuggy quartz vein (Johns, 1961). The vein strikes N80E and dips 23N to 40N (Johns, 1961). Dump rock consists of weakly limonite stained limestone with calcite veins. The assay results of 3 samples from this site were reported by Johns. Silver values ranged from a trace to 11.20 ounces per ton; gold values ranged from 0.005 to 0.040 ounces per ton (Johns, 1961). No information on operational history or production was found in the literature. This dry site is located on BLM land.
