Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: JEFFERSON Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020005 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: P Impact: L Report: Quartz City The Quartz City prospect probes the probable northwestern extension of the Bismark orebody along the Bismark fault in Archean metamorphic rocks near their fault contact with Cretaceous granitic rocks. O'Neill and others (1983) studies the property in detail. They found vein segments up to 1.5 feet wide containing quartz, chalcopyrite, galena, and molybdenite. The best values from 36 samples were .27 oz/ton gold and 2.56% copper. A moderate potential for the discovery of gold and copper resources was assigned to the property. There are 4 caved adits with a total length of 240 feet. The lowermost adit, which is probably less than 50 feet long, discharges a small volume of water which immediately sinks into the ground. |
