Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020005 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: P Impact: U Report: Lead Queen (MA003115) Two caved adits and accompanying dump rock may be the Lead Queen. Surface disturbance covers approximately 1 acre; additional workings can be found north of this location. This site is at the top of a steep, dry ridge. Host rock is Devonian Jefferson Dolomite with calcite veins and veinlets. Gangue mineralogy is white to light-gray, finely crystalline quartz. Ore minerals visible on dump rock included malachite, limonite, and trace azurite. An AIM sample assayed 2570 ppm lead, 1545 ppm zinc, 8070 ppm copper, 22.3 ounces silver, 0.0120 ounces gold, and 628 ppm arsenic. Information on operation and production of this mine was not located in the literature. This dry site is located on a patented claim adjacent to federal land. |
