Report: Copper Camp LC001597 Two adits at this site have discharges which were previously sampled by MBMG staff. Results are found in the MBMG database. Generally, dissolved metals were well below applicable primary and secondary drinking water samples (Metesh, 1993). Metesh also states that there is no adverse impact of significant magnitude to surface water to warrant concern. McClernan, 1983 states that there are four adits and surface drill sites at this location. The mines are located in Precambrian (Belt) Helena, Empire and Spokane formations (Earhart and others, 1977). This report also lists six assay results from this area. There is an andesite porphyry 500 feet west of Copper Camp although the deposit is considered a vein/shear zone (McClernan, 1983) or stratabound (Byer, 1987). Ore minerals are bornite, chalcocite, azurite, malachite, chalcocite, galena, sphalerite, molybdenite and gold (Earhart and others, 1977). Grab sample assays from the upper adit's waste dump (PBCC-1) ran 0.001 opt Au, 1.88 opt Ag, 7.46% Cu, 0.04% Pb and 0.02% Zn. A second grab sample assay (PBCC-2) from the lower adit's waste dump ran <0.0005 opt Au, 0.17 opt Ag, 0.53% Cu, 0.004% Pb and 0.01% Zn. Rainy Day mine is another name by which this area was known in the 1940's (USBM mineral property file 21.56). Western Mining World (1899) described workings at a property which fits this description. The patented claims resorted to Helena National Forest in a land exchange. The original patented claim names were the MacGindror McGindry (east) and Snowstorm (west), MS #'s 4520 and 4521. They are in sec. 03 and 04, T.15N., R.09W.
