Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: JEFFERSON Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020006 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: N Impact: Report: Cracker A locked adit discharging water on Deerlodge National Forest lands is the main feature of the Cracker. Shears above the portal have a N84E 70SE attitude and probably parallel the vein. Roby and others (1960) describe the vein as containing quartz, galena, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and manganese oxides, with 1,600 feet of total workings present. The dump is 4,000 tons of quartz monzonite with quartz, sericite, and pyrite alteration products, and has fairly high metal values (JJCR-1) of 0.014 oz/ton Au, 1.72 oz/ton Ag, 0.85% Pb, and only a small amount of Cu and Zn. |
