Report: Helper At least two caved adits are present on private land in a narrow drainage bottom. The workings are probably crosscuts to an east-west quartz-pyrite-sphalerite-galena vein. Apparently the mine produced in 1906, 1918, and 1944, with 144 tons of ore produced from which 32 oz Au, 733 oz Ag, 183 lbs Cu, 17,441 lbs Pb, and 7900 lbs Zn were recovered (Roby and others, 1960). Dump material consisting mostly of quartz monaonite altered to quartz, sericite, and pyrite, is being transported intermittantly by runoff downstream onto some fractions of national forest land.
