Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: JEFFERSON Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020006 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: M Impact: Report: Boulder (Basin Goldfields) Extensive workings total about 8000 feet (Roby and others, 1960) and are accessed by numerous openings, all of which are dry and caved. The mine follows an 4 inch to 18 foot wide (unpublished information, MBMG files), N68-90W near vertical vein in quartz monzonite which has been intruded and brecciated by a Tertiary quartz latite dike (Ruppel, 1963). The Boulder was one of the few mines in the Basin district with fairly high gold values; 4425 tons of ore produced 3305 oz Au, 8527 oz Ag, 1173 lbs Cu, 4915 lbs Pb, and 1763 lbs Zn (Roby and others, 1960). The ownership of this mine is mixed national forest and private land. |
