Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: JEFFERSON Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020006 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: N Impact: Report: Vera and Marie Two open shafts, two caved adits, and several trenches mark the Vera and Marie, which explores an east-west quartz-sphalerite-pyrite vein for 350 feet along strike. Some seeps issue from the main adit dump, which contains about 1,500 tons of altered, pyrite-bearing quartz monzonite with low metal values (see map). A select sample (JJVM-2) of vein from the ore bin had low gold value but high silver value -- 0.040 oz/ton Au and 12.90 oz/ton Ag, 0.92% copper, 1.92% lead, and 1.62% zinc. Total length of all workings is probably less than 1,000 feet. This property is on national forest lands. |
