Report: Blue Moon (GR003561) The Blue Moon mine workings consist of at least 2 collapsed adits, 1 open adit, 1 large dump, several smaller dumps, and scattered trenches and pits. The site also has a dilapidated trailer house and other debris present. Total surface disturbance is approixmately 3 acres. Host rock is Precambrian quartzite and schist (Precambrian Garnet Range Formation?). Vein mineralogy is light-colored quartz. The only other apparent signs of mineralization at this site is moderate to heavy limonite staining. An AIM sample assayed less than 2 ppm lead, 36 ppm zinc, 67 ppm copper, 0.2 ppm silver, trace gold, and less than 2 ppm arsenic. No information was found in the literature regarding mine history and/or production. Judging from the condition of the workings, there has been no mining at this site for several years. This dry site is located near the top of a dry ridge; all surface disturbances are on BLM land.
