Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: DEERLODGE Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010201 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: N Impact: Report: Clear Grit (Lost One) One open shaft, one caved shaft, one caved adit, and several surface disturbances follow a N37W (?) shear zone in the Royal stock. Avery (1983) desribed quartz-iron oxide veins and stringers with N30-70W 85SW attitudes in this zone. Fifteen samples taken by him ranged from .01 to 1.33 oz/ton gold and from .01 to .99 oz/ton silver. Emmons and Calkins (1913) found veins of quartz, sericite, pyrite, and chalcopyrite, and altered host rock containing pyrite, chalcopyrite, and bornite. |
