Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: PHILIPSBURG Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: N Impact: Report: Although the MILS database located this occurrence in Deer Lodge County, approximately 0.5 miles northeast of Kurt Peak, Elliot and others, 1985 (USGS Miscellaneous Field Studies Map MF-1633-A, and Close and others USBM, MLA 24-82) show it on the Granite County side of the pass. It is located in the Anaconda-Pintlar Wilderness Area. Both reports describe it as having no workings and as a vein or replacement deposit in limestone. Of the three samples taken, the best contained trace gold, 0.4 oz Ag per ton, and 0.065 % Cu (Close and others). Lidke, 1985 mapped this southern part of the Georgetown Thrust, locating the occurrence in Proterozoic Belt Series. |
