Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: BUTTE Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: P Impact: U Report: Eldorado Two caved shafts, one short caved adit, and one 500 foot caved adit are dispersed over a few acres at the Eldorado. A large dump is located in a pond and adjacent wetland. Mineralization is hosted by granodiorite of the Royal Stock, and appears to be localized by narrow shear zones striking N70E and N15W. Pieces of vein up to 6 inches in diameter contain quartz, pyrite, and sericite, and wallrock contains quartz, sericite and clay alteration products. A select sample of vein and altered host rock ran 1.151 oz/ton gold, .42 oz/ton silver, .075% copper, .015% lead, and .006% zinc. Emmons and Calkins (1913) described this only as a "crushed and sheeted zone of granite". |
