Report: Yellow Metal Apparently, a sheeted zone in Mount Shields quartzite contains quartz, pyrite, and free gold (Emmons and Calkins, 1913). It is oriented N88E with a south dip. There are 500 feet of drifts and crosscuts, accessed by two adits. This mine could not be located this summer, but an examination of the literature revealed its true location and it is scheduled for a 1993 visit.
