Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: PHILIPSBURG Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010201 Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: N Impact: Report: St. Thomas-Nineteen Hundred Both the St. Thomas and adjoining Nineteen Hundred mined a narrow N79E 47SE sheeted zone which cuts bedding in the host, Mount Shields quartzite, and both supposedly produced several thousand dollars in gold (Emmons and Calkins, 1913). Earll (1972) observed and sampled a narrow quartz-limonite vein, which contained about 1 oz/ton gold. The lowermost, longest adit apparently contains no mineralization, with the short upper workings producing all of the ore. |
