Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: PHILIPSBURG Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: DEERLODGE Owner: M Impact: L Report: Modoc The Modoc explores a small skarn at the contact between limestone and a granite outlier of the Philipsburg batholith (Emmons and Calkins, 1913). The granite endoskarn was of interest here, and contains calcite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, and bornite in a zone 30-75 feet wide and trending N40E. An open adit driven a few hundred feet on the contact discharges a small volume of water. The dump is mostly altered granite. |
