Report: Independence (GR000002) A caved adit and small dump on the east side of Cayuse Gulch may be the Independence Mine. Host rock is dark-gray, banded quartzite (Precambrian Garnet Range Formation?). Mineralization, other than limonite staining, is not apparent. This dry BLM site poses no apparent environmental problems.
