Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: HUNGRY HORSE Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 17010209 Forest or Resource Area: FLATHEAD Owner: N Impact: Report: One Dead Digger FH004333 The One Dead Digger prospect is located south of the South Fork Logan Creek in section 6, T27N, R16W (Felix Peak quadrangle). Marks (1978) described the working as consisting of an open pit (approximately 120' long x 70' wide) with a caved adit. Mineralization is along a northwest-striking fault zone characterized by quartz veins with malachite, chalcocite, bornite, chalcopyrite, azurite, and chrysocolla. The host rock is argillite. The site was visited by MBMG in September 2000. The collapsed adit was not evident but may have been concealed beneath material slumped from the highwall surrounding the pit. There was no water or evidence of adit discharge. The dump extended below the access road and was unvegetated. Metal debris, a few barrels, and sections of cable were scattered around the site. |
