Report: Mystery Workings here consist of a boarded adit and a dry caved shaft; total extent is probably 500-1,000 feet. The adit discharges water, and the associated dump is located in a wetland. A vein of brecciated quartz and quartz monzonite with 2-3% pyrite was mined. It appears to strike N40E. The adit is boarded up with a ~10 gpm discharge, possibly the Cottonwood Mine. The adit strikes S40W, and was recently worked. The adit is on patented ground, but the dump is not. The dump has been leveled off into the swamp. The swamp appears to be the remains of a placer operation. There was the remains of a trellis (?) across the swamp. The dump is composed of slightly to strongly altered porphyry with roughly 20% brecciated and remineralized quartz, and an overall average of 3-5% sulfide content. The water from the adit is gray to brown. The water in the swamp is also gray, and there seems to be a very reduced amount of animal life in the swamp. Samples # SFDCCNNW10H and # BDLSFC1, identical dump composite samples, were taken and a map of the site was made.
