An open pit chromite mine, according to James (1946) was the largest known deposit in the district, nearly mined out in1946. It beared some 35,000 tons of ore. The mine comprises several benches forming a large open pit on the plateau's rim. The only structure at the site is an ore shoot just south of the pit made up of locally harvested timbers. No hazards were observed except for the highwall to the open pit is estimated to be over 80 feet high. |
