Report: No workings existed on these claims except for a few small discovery pits until 1942 when a series of twenty three trenches and pits were dug by the U.S. Bureau of Mines in a narrow band of serpentine 100 feet wide, (Herlick 1948). Herlick notes that all of the work was done by hand. Visiting the site showed the sides of the trenches to have sluffed in and to be dry shallow depressions less than 3 feet deep.
