Agency: BLM Region District: MILES CITY Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10080010 Forest or Resource Area: BILLINGS Owner: B Impact: U Report: East Pryor CB000147 The East Pryor Mine is located on the Pryor Mountains National Wild Horse Range (administered by the Bureau of Land Management). Most of the area has been recontoured and re-seeded; several prospect pits and small waste rock dumps are visible. Total surface disturbance at the site is approximately 5 acres (including the reclaimed area). Host rock is Permian Phosphoria dolomite; the dolomite at this location is highly brecciated and has abundant vugs in part indicating solution activity. This appears to have been a stratiform(?) deposit with carnotite(?) as the principle ore mineral. This site is located in a dry gulch and poses no apparent environmental problems; within a few more years, there will be no evidence of mining activity in this area. |
