Agency: NF Region District: R1 Ranger District: DILLON Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: BEAVERHEAD Owner: N Impact: Report: Wapita (BE004565) The Wapita workings consist of 2 caved shafts and 1 open shaft. Small amounts of waste rock surround the shafts. Total surface disturbance is less than 1 acre. The host rock at this location is Devonian Jefferson limy dolomite. Part of the waste rock and wall rock is limonite stained; there are also some manganese dendrites present. No other mineralization is apparent. It seems likely that these workings explore a vein deposit as so many others do in the area. Workings are dry at this site; there is no water component. All workings are on Dillon Ranger District, USFS land. |
