Report: Lookout Mine BE004515 The location for the Lookout mine in section 5, T.8S., R.11W. is not accurate enough to identify the workings. There are several unidentified mines that may be the Lookout but all have been reclaimed by DSL-AMRB and so are not a concern. Winchell, 1914 reported the Lookout had gold telluride ores and auriferous pyrite; the pyrite is associated with garnet, calcite, specular hematite, epidote and bornite. Production is noted in 1939 of 13 tons of ore yielding 11 oz Au, 158 oz Ag, 7 lb Cu and 1442 oz Pb (Geach, 1972). The mine is unpatented and located on BLM land. Loen and Pearson, 1989 list the Lookout as being in Mississippian Madison Group in contact with Cretaceous granodiorite.
