Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: P Impact: Report: Blue Dot Mine BE004270 This adit is a part of the New Departure mine and is currently listed as active on the Bannack topo map and so was not visited. Geach, 1972 reported the adit was originally 700 feet long and was later extended after 1958. An article in the November 24, 1963 Montana Standard reported 2,500 feet of new tunnel (the Blue Dot) was driven as a crosscut to the extensions of the previous workings to get to the sulfide. Ore from the 208 orebody, which this adit accessed, yielded 23,645 tons of ore, yielding 69,300 lbs Pb, 13,600 lbs Cu, 90,500 lbs Zn, 162,642 ounces Ag, and 34 ounces Au. |
