Report: Missouri Prospect BE003945 This mine is also known as the Box X unpatented claim (from the location notice by Bill Hand (1986) at the portal). According to Lowell, 1965, this prospect is located in a Tertiary tuff but at the portal the rocks appear to be a limestone breccia, with possible volcanics above on the hillside. The dump here and above in the hillside have both been reclaimed by DSL-AMRB and the adit (N75oW) is collapsed. Dump material appears to have been limestone breccia, a volcanic clast breccia in addition to secondary copper minerals, calcite veinlets, and reddish-brown to dark brown limonite. Dump material on one of the NW-trending upper prospects, possibly a backfilled shaft, was sampled (PGBX-1) and assayed 0.003 opt Au, 1.0 ppm Ag, 1230 ppm Cu, 342 ppm Pb, and 908 ppm Zn. The only other anomalous elements were vanadium at 408 ppm and arsenic at 3590 ppm. The sample consisted of dark brown, limonitic stained rock with minor carbonate and quartz veins, with trace secondary copper stains and yellowish, very fine grained void fillings between the dark brown stringers, with no sulfides.
