Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: B Impact: U Report: Stevenson Mine BE003890 Shenon, 1931 shows this mine's location in the E½ section 27 on his geologic map and field identification was based on this. The mine found in Shenon's approximate location has three adits, two collapsed and one still open with a shallow shaft just inside the portal. The open adit trends N. 70o W. back into the hillside and the upper two adits are completely caved. The occurrence is hosted in Mississippian Madison limestone and it is unknown if it associated with the granodiorite intrusion located less than ½-mile to the southeast of the mine. This mine is located to the slightly to the northeast of the Wheal Rose Mine. There is no road to this mine. Assays for a random dump sample (PGST-1) ran 0.003 opt Au, 4.11 opt Ag, 0.04% Cu, 0.27% Pb and 0.53% Zn. The sample consisted of dark brown stained limestone, manganese oxide, trace secondary copper stained minerals, trace quartz- disseminated pyrite vein, and blue limestone. |
