Report: Kent Mine BE000672 The Kent Mine produced approximately $750,000 with production spanning from its discovery in 1864 to 1935, with most production in 1907-10, 1917-19, 1928, and 1935 (Geach, 1972). It appears that it has been worked more recently (1950's through 1980's ?). I believe it was mined at one time by Carl Brown Mining the same outfit which presently mines the New Departure. There are extensive workings to the west of the main mine, largely secured by DSL-AMRB, but with one open shaft remaining. Most of the workings are on private patented claims but the workings probably extend on BLM land. Shenon, 1931 reported an 850 foot tunnel and maps show two west-trending tunnels, the Blue Wing Tunnel and the Whopper Tunnel, with a drift to the north. The host rock is Mississippian Madison limestone with ore in close proximity to Cretaceous granodiorite (Geach, 1972). The ore was found associated with limestone altered to a chocolate brown color. Ore was found in fissures and in pipe-like bodies (Geach, 1972). Ore and gangue minerals include quartz, calcite, galena, tetrahedrite, jamesonite, sphalerite, covellite, pyrite, jalpaite (?), cerargyrite, bindheimite, linarite, caledonite, cerussite, anglesite, malachite, azurite, chrysocolla, smithsonite, calamine, limonite, and manganese oxide (Shenon, 1931 and Geach, 1972).
