Report: This group consists of 11 patented claims: Nevada, New York, Toledo, W.M.C., Northern Light, Virginia, Chicago, Oswego, California, IXL and Sadie. A separate entry was created for the two adits in sec 33, T. 4 S., R. 12 W. which are actually a part of this group and on which a discharge and seep are present. The third adit is on the W.M.C. claim and is listed as also caved on the U.S.B.M. 1994 MLA 18-94 inventory. Geach (1972), p. 109 - 110) describes these mines driven in Mount Torrey batholith (quartz monzonite) with ore minerals of pyrite, galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite in a white quartz gangue. The adit on the New York claim was reportedly 800 feet long and workings on the W.M.C. claim aggregated 4800 feet. Winchell (1914, p. 169 - 170) described the McConnell group as encountering narrow quartz veins "carrying a little silver and copper." Both Geach and Winchell imply that the workings encountered faulting.
