Report: Silver Star (Lone Star) Mine BE000569 This patented claim is located in SEĽ section 33 and is located by Shenon, 1931 but not on the patented claim map in the MBMG mineral property files. It is hosted in Mississippian Madison limestone in fault contact with Tertiary andesite (Geach, 1972). Ore occurs as replacement veins in the limestone (MBMG mineral property files). According to Geach, 1972, the ore and gangue minerals are quartz, manganese oxides, calcite and according to Shenon, 1931 minerals include reddish-brown iron oxide and secondary copper / silver minerals. One adit here is secured by a culvert and expanded metal grate while the other adit is caved. A lower adit is also caved. A chip sample taken by Geach (1972) ran 0.02% Pb, 0% Zn, 0.55 opt Ag, 0.005 opt Au, and a second chip sample ran 0.80% Pb, 1.0% Zn, 0.15% Cu, 4.85 opt Ag, 0.005 opt Au. A select sample (PGLS-1) from the lower dump below the road ran 0.004 opt Au, 9.9 opt Ag, 1.12% Cu, 6.06% Pb, 9.12% Zn and >100 ppm cadmium. Minerals noted in this sample were pyrite, sphalerite(?), secondary copper minerals, calcite, quartz, iron oxide and manganese oxide.
