Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: P Impact: U Report: Pomeroy Mine BE000557 The Pomeroy mine is also known as the Brick Pomeroy, the Silver Buckle and the Silver Belt (two patented claims on which the mine is located). It was operated in the 1860's and 1870's, 1880's, 1908-09 and 1966-67 (Geach, 1972). Workings are described as from anywhere from three to ten shafts, all of which have been secured by DSL-AMRB by fencing or expanded metal grates. They ranged in depth from 20-80 feet (MBMG mineral property files). The main working consisted of an inclined shaft with open stoped to the surface (Shenon, 1931). A chip sample across two feet of gouge by Geach (1972) assayed 0.20% Pb, 0.40% Zn, 1.25 opt Ag, and 0.003 opt Au. The main vein trends northeast-southwest and dips 60-75oNW (Geach, 1972 and Shenon, 1931). A dump grab sample (PGPO-1) assayed 0.009 opt Au, 3.24 opt Ag, 0.02% Cu, 0.08% Pb and 0.04% Zn. |
