Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: 10020002 Forest or Resource Area: DILLON Owner: P Impact: U Report: Randall Mine BE000503 The Randall Mine is a patented claim, found in the 1860's and operated intermittently until 1939 (Shenon, 1931 and Geach, 1972). Total production was 26 tons of ore producing 322 ounces of silver and one ounce of gold (Geach, 1972). A line of prospects extends ENE-WSW approximately N80oE. Geach (1972) describes this property as the Jeanette claim but according to the land ownership lines on the topo the prospects along the road and those to the west are the Randall. The deposit is considered to be replacement along east-striking fissures in Mississippian Madison limestone (Shenon, 1931 and Geach, 1972). A granodiorite intrusive is assumed to be close by as inferred by Shenon's geologic map. The ore mineral here is argentiferous galena (Shenon, 1931). There are no hazards and no water present. |
