Report: Sunrise (BE000372) The Sunrise workings consist of a caved adit, a 100 yard bulldozer cut, and several small dumps. Numerous other trenches (cuts) are found in the same general area and may be part of this claim. Total surface disturbance is approximately 2 1/2 acres. Host rock appears to be Devonian Jefferson limy dolomite. The presence of quartzite cobbles on the dumps and in the trenches suggests that this site is near the contact with the Cambrian Flathead Formation. Most of the dump rock and rock exposed in the trenches exhibits some degree of limonite staining; there is no other evidence of mineralization. The workings purportedly explored a 1' yellowish gouge vein deposit containing flinty gray quartz fragements and manganese oxide staining (Geach, 1972). Ore minerals included copper, lead, zinc, silver, and gold (Geach, 1972). This property was located in 1957; it has no record of production. Judging from the volume of dump rock, production was minor. The Sunrise workings are located on a dry north-facing hillside; there is no water component. All workings are on BLM land.
