Report: Graybird Group (BE000300) The Graybird Group consists of 6 unpatented claims; principle work has been on the Graybird No. 1 claim along a 70' surface cuts. The cut has been made along an intensely kaolinized and sericitized granodiorite(?) dike and thin-bedded, partly marmarized and chloritized limestone in the Amsden Formation (Geach, 1972). The contact strikes N20W and dips 67NE; the vein material exposed consists of reddish-brown jasper with galena and cerrusite (Geach, 1972). The only present-day indication of mineralization is iron oxide staining of dump and wall rocks. An AIM sample assayed in excess of 10,000 ppm for both lead and zinc, 80 ppm copper, 7.6 ppm silver, trace gold, and 374 ppm arsenic. Production was recorded in 1961 and 1965 but actual figures are confidential. Judging from the size of the dumps, production was modest. This dry site is located on BLM land.
