Report: Summary from Lyden (1948): dry-land dredge operated in 1948 processing 1,000 cubic yards per day. In 1946, 188 fine ounces recovered from 70,000 cu yards of gravel. $100,000 recovered by the McLeod Company from 1939 to 1947. Size and quantity of gold larger below the confluence of Colorado Creek and Jeff Davis Gulch. Previous placering had sluiced much of Colorado Creek. Well-sorted creek gravel with no boulders was mined. A connected-bucket dredge worked the property downstream of the McLeod property. The origin of the gold was not definitely found. The use of mercury was not mentioned.
