Report: Huron (Cottontail) BE000132 This group of unpatented claims has an amazing amount of openings, both adits and shafts and is located north of the Kent mine in SE1/4 section 28, T8S, R11W. At least nine shafts and eight tunnels were accounted for in a Dillon Tribune article found in the MBMG mineral property files (1967). All have been grated, fenced, cabled or culverted by DSL-AMRB. Two major fissure veins trend N80oE and N65oE, about 80 feet apart, and dip steeply south (Geach, 1972). There are five veins in all (MPF, 1967 Dillon Tribune article). Ore and gangue mineralogy includes iron and copper stained quartz, jasper, calcite, minor galena and brown-black manganese oxides (Geach, 1972) and additionally cerargyite and sulfides (Shenon, 1931). Sample PGHC-1 assayed 0.078 opt Au, 9.2 opt Ag, 0.20% Cu, 0.47% Pb, and 0.25% Zn. Production yielded 129 tons of ore, with 1730 lbs Pb, 200 lbs Zn, 1869 lbs Cu, 7334 ounces Ag and 7 ounces Au (Geach, 1972). Production spanned from 1864 to 1953; with the only consecutive years being 1872-73, 1882-1885, 1918-1919 and 1936-1937 (Geach, 1972).
