Agency: BLM Region District: BUTTE Ranger District: Forest Service Tract: Watershed Code: Forest or Resource Area: GARNET Owner: M Impact: Report: Lehsou-Upper Deep Creek (GR000104/GR000314) The Lehsou or Hickey placer workings are located in the upper portion of Deep Creek Gulch. Workings consist of numerous pits and cuts with accompanying dumps; surface disturbance covers several acres. Host rock is quaternary gravels (with cobbles); most of the gravels are composed of granodiorite, limestone, and quartz monzonite). The gravel purportedly contained appreciable amounts of placer gold, irregularly distributed (Pardee, 1918). Land ownership in this area appears to be private as well as BLM. All workings are dry and in various stages of revegetation. |
